Paddy Mc Loughlin has been a successful snooker player for 10 years, during which time he has competed at junior, adult and professional levels. Now, aged 24, he has refocused his career toward the American style games of 8 and 9-ball pool, and aims to bring his proven cue-sports strengths to this new medium, aiming to become one of the world's very best players.
Paddy's natural talent was spotted at an early age when he competed on BBC1's "Junior Big Break" programme, and he hasn't stopped playing since, and as an adult has played exhibition matches with Jimmy White, Tony Drago and Ken Doherty.
More recently he has received more TV coverage, both at home and abroad, particularly "The Norwegian 9-Ball Challenge". This seven-day long tournament, bringing together the best 9-ball players in Europe, was broadcast LIVE, daily, on the main Norwegian terrestrial TV channel "TV2", and was complemented with worldwide coverage of LIVE "pay-per-view" streamed video on TV2's web site.
More online, streamed video of this event was also featured at "BetAndWin" an Internet bookmaking company, where punters could watch the players and gamble on the outcome of matches.
His most recent televised appearance was at the inaugural edition of Barry Hearn's Matchroom Sports "World Cup of Pool" - Two players from each of thirty-two countries around the globe fight it out in a "Scotch Doubles" format until there is only one team remaining.
Paddy was proud and overjoyed to be chosen to represent Team Ireland in this event, along with seasoned pool professional, Tommy Donlon.
The Filipino dream-team of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamente eventually won the event and the $60,000 prize money, but not before Paddy had earned his share and played an outstanding match against the super-stars of Team Finland.
Patrick McLoughlin is the current All-Ireland Number One.
Determined and resourceful, he knows he can be successful at World level.
His main goal is to compete on the "International Pool Tour", the leading professional 8-ball pool tour with multi-million dollar prize funds at each and every event.
